Caabu would like to invite you to a panel discussion: European Muslims: facing up to alienation and discrimination in the wake of terror. Journalist Nabila Ramdani and Raffaello Pantucci of RUSI have been confirmed as speakers.

The event will address the issues faced by Muslims in Europe, particulary in the wake of terrorist attacks in Paris and Brussels. It will address issues of radicalisation, particularly in the context of these attacks, and how Europe is dealing with issues faced by Muslim communities, terrorism, radicalisation, and issues of cohesion, before and after such attacks.

About the speakers:

Nabila Ramdani is an award-winning French-Algerian freelance journalist, columnist and broadcaster who specialises in French politics, Islamic affairs, and the Arab World. She has particularly risen to prominence during her coverage of the so-called Arab Spring as both an on-the-ground print reporter in countries such as Tunisia, Libya and Egypt and a commentator in international TV and radio studios. 

Nabila also writes opinion pieces and broadcasts on the condition of Muslim and other minority communities in her native France, and in Europe in general. She was at the forefront of journalistic analysis of the recent terrorist attacks on both Paris and Brussels, and their aftermath. 

In the UK, Nabila is a columnist for The Guardian, The Observer, London Evening Standard, the Daily Telegraph, and previously for The Independent & Independent on Sunday. She also produces features and news stories for a wide range of other publications. 

Nabila is a political commentator for international stations such as the BBC, Sky News, ITV, Channel 4, Al Jazeera, CNN and Al Arabiya and a regular contributor to flagship programmes including the BBC's Today, Woman's Hour and Newsnight; Sky News' Paper Review; and Al Jazeera's Inside Story. Raffaello Pantucciis Director of International Security Studies at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and the author of We Love Death As You Love Life: Britain's Suburban Terrorists (UK: Hurst/US: Oxford University Press) described by the Financial Times as 'The most articulate and carefully researched account of Britain's "suburban terrorists" to date'. 

His work on terrorism and jihadists has appeared in media outlets like the Financial Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Times, Guardian, Prospect and academic publications like RUSI Journal, Survival, Terrorism and Political Violence and Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, amongst others.
