Voices of Jordan: Caabu Book Launch with Jordanian author and journalist, Rana Sweis

Caabu would like to invite you to a book launch with Jordanian author and journalist, Rana Sweis, who will be speaking about her book, Voices of Jordan.

This intimate portrait of Jordan offers nuance and subtlety by dint of interviewees drawn from across the spectrum of society. This book tells the story of Jordan through the lives of ordinary people, including a political cartoonist, a Syrian refugee, a Jihadist and a female parliamentarian. The raw voices and everyday struggles of these people shine a fresh light on the politics, religion, and society of a culture coming to terms with the harsh reality of modernisation and urbanisation at a time of regional upheaval.

We will be selling copies of Voices of Jordan on the day for a reduced price of £15(RRP £18.99).

About the speaker

Rana F. Sweis is a Jordanian journalist covering political, social and refugee issues in the Middle East, most often for the New York Times. She is also the founder and managing director of Wishbox Media, a provider of media training, research services and creative digital storytelling packages. She is currently a Stanton Fellow at the Arab Institute for Security Studies working on Nuclear Energy Diplomacy in the Middle East; She holds an MA from George Washington University's Graduate School of Political Management.
