On 20 June, Caabu held a meeting in Parliament held jointly with LSE's Conflict Research Programme Former UN envoy to Syria Staffan De Mistura; Dr Rim Turkmani, the Director of the LSE’s Syria Conflict Research Programme and Marika Theros, a researcher at the Conflict and Civil Society Research Unit at LSE. The event was chaired by Caabu Board member, Paula Sherriff MP.
The topic was “The Syrian conflict: Insights, lessons and what role for civil society?”
Mr De Mistura spoke on the Chatham House rule but Dr Turkmani and Marika Theros were on the record. In part the event was to introduce the results of the research they conducted on the Syrian Civil society support Room and its impacts in their report entitled: A process in its own right: the Syrian Civil Society Support Room.
